There is a global need for engineers who are sensitive to the issues facing the world and aware of the impact their products and solutions have and could have on people.
This new report Designing inclusive engineering education contains evidence, research based strategies and ideas for tweaking and adjusting current programmes and designing new ones. Addressing inclusion in engineering is not politically correct, nor is it difficult. It makes practical, real world sense. It also makes sense to ensure that the principles are embedded within the education of engineers from day one.
Katalytik is delighted to have been leading the transformation of engineering programmes to create engineers fit for the future. Through our engagement with employers and academics we have been actively involved with the development of the Integrated Engineering Programme at UCL following the HE STEM funded Set to Lead project with UCL.
The report is supported by the Royal Academy of Engineering and the Centre for Engineering Education at UCL. The report will be launched as part of a two-day symposium, on 9 and 10 July in London, The event brings together experts and employers from across the UK to discuss and explore the four pillar model and strategies. The second day workshops will use the Katalytik Toolkit to facilitate conversations across the four pillars.
