Katalytik’s founder
Jan Peters has a technical background founded on analytical chemistry and instrumentation but now
uses the skills developed over a career spanning the private and public sector to bring her attributes and
passion to making a difference.

Providing ideas and innovation to direct projects to success

Partnership development, connecting people and groups, networking and communication at the
most senior levels of industry, professional societies and higher education

Policy and strategy development and implementation in NERC, DTI and the Women’s
Engineering Society
•
Competent and engaging public speaker including experience at leading workshops, chairing
prestigious discussions, keynote speaker at careers events and key women in science
conferences across the UK, Europe and USA..
Jan was a founding member of the European Commission’s Helsinki Group, as the UK National Expert
on women in science and has recently (2008) been an expert evaluator for the Commission Science
and Society programme. As well as working in higher education, the public and private sector Jan was
the Equality and Diversity Manager at the Royal Society and has been associated with leading a
number of high profile sector changing reports including Maximising Returns, (DTI, 2002), SET Fair,
(DTI 2002), Directed ‘Taking a Leading Role’ and its supporting representation of ethnic minorities in
SET, (The Royal Society 2005) and ‘Different Women, Different Places’ (Diversity Practice and Katalytik
2007). She also managed the publications Returners and re-entrants and the IT scorecard for BCS the
chartered institute for the IT profession.
